What is a Hospitality Suite?

Think of the Hospitality Suites as the official room parties for the convention. Typically they will be themed, often along one or more genres of fandom.

Keycon’s Hospitality suites are more than just a couple of suites. It’s the entire 15th floor of the Radisson. The stories from conventions past have helped the floor transcend to legendary status. From hallway sing-a-longs to spooky suites; new friends found and old friends rediscovered.

A Note From Our Coordinator

Hello peoples and welcome to the 15th floor. This year Hospitality is happy to present for your viewing, singing, dining and “various” other pleasures a wide range of Suites. We have a couple of new groups this year and a few of our favourites have returned. A few very important items for you to remember at all times. Please, remember to wear your badges at all times and have your official government photo ID on you if you wish to partake of an “adult” beverage. NO ID means NO SERVICE. All service animals must be registered with the Conventions Registration and proof of this will be required. Service animals are not to be in the area where food is being served in the hospitality suites. Please remember that alcoholic beverages are not to be taken off the 15th floor. The hotel is not just ours and we must be mindful of the laws both City and Provincial. So Come, Sing, Drink, Eat and have fun!!!

Room Descriptions

1500: SFW – Jovian Sunspot

Join SFW in Cabin 1500 as we investigate interstellar and techno-magical relationships in the best traditions of the Babylon Stations.

1502: “OFFICIAL” MagiTech Café

The year is 2018 and Keycon has been divided into two factions, technology and magic. The Kame Cafe was not immune to this divide; the members of the Tomodachi Club were divided. The group almost crumbled, until finally a truce was called. The Kame Cafe has changed to become the “Magitech Cafe”, a safe place for both magic and tech. Secret competitions may be brewing and if tensions build too high who knows what could happen. In addition to our popular evening programming, we will feature Magic and Tech themed anime. In our room you’ll also find board games, events and this year we have tailored our menu to suit a variety of dietary needs. We hope you’ll stop by for a visit!

1504: Medieval Knights

We four ladies invite you to step into the 11th century in our castle hall. Surrender yourself to an age of bravery and honor. Join us for complete healthy meals or cold beverages. We have adult or virgin drinks to chill out with in our hall. Do you believe in magic? We do!! If not we challenge you. Merlin has conjured a magical 55’ looking glass. If you think you are brave enough, enter our 50/50 draw or try to obtain a smart looking glass. Our 50/50 isn’t a dragon wingspan but close enough. We have tasty morsels for snacking to satisfy the smallest fairy to the biggest giant. Sunday is a Royal Dinner fit for a King or Queen (guarantee your plate…order in-suite ahead of time).

1506: The Black Sun

The year is 2052 and corporate superpowers have claimed government control. The Black Sun, a hideaway in a small chain of hideaways, offers resistance members a chance to fight back, to ingest sustenance, and escape reality. Resistance members can expect only the best synthetic foods and drinks by the most reputable food corporations, just don’t ask where we got it.
Step into a Cyberpunk get away filled with glowing drinks, neon skylines, synth wave music, and cyberpunk games and videos!

1512: Ai-Kon – Gundam Café

If you have a childlike heart with a burly man’s stomach, nothing will meet your huge fancy for kiddie adventures and your ravenous appetite at the same time better than putting one and one together. And if you are a huge fan of robots and animated movies, you will surely enjoy an exciting visit to Gundam Café, an Ai-Kon official café for robot/mech lovers.

1514: Purple Toad Potions and Confections

Witches, Wizards, Goblins and Trolls! We have a treat that’s just right for you. Eyeballs or frogs, whiz bees or exploding bonbons. Chase your treats down with Unicorn Blood or Dragon’s Blood. Whatever your taste buds desire, come see us in the Purple Toad and let us fill that sweet tooth.

1516: Dandy Lion

We are a group of friends who love music- talking about, listening to, playing it, singing, harmonizing, you name it. Most of us have been regular attendees at Keycon for many years but; one year, we realized that our love of music frequently kept us from visiting with our other friends on the 15th Floor, thus the concept of a Filk hospitality suite was born. Looking for gluten-free food? We serve coffee and tea throughout the day, as well as a variety of baked goods (all gluten free). Come for some caffeine, stay for or just come for the music – either way, we’d love to see you. We will be serving all day breakfast: gluten-free oatmeal with lots of fruit choices as add-ons! This year, we will also be offering gluten-free soup throughout the day as supplies last and don’t forget the smoothies! Buy a coffee mug for $5 and have free coffee, tea, or smoothies the rest of the Con!

1518: The Cherry Pit

The Cherry Pit is an 18+ board gaming lounge. Play the NSFW version of a favourite game, or just hang out and enjoy our company in an adults-only hospitality suite. Pants optional.

The Cherry Pit believes in equality: both Magic and Tech – as well as non-faction folk – can safely coexist here.
