How to submit Programming

Key Information

Programming is the heart of Keycon and every year people just like you contribute programming to the event of all kinds.

Need ideas on what you (or you and your friends, club or society) could offer? Look right here.

  • demonstrations (like fighting with light sabres),
  • discussion panels (a few people having a discussion on stage),
  • round tables (every in the room having a moderated discussion – this can be an entry point for new panel creators).,
  • workshop/craft/make-n-take (anything from colouring to zentangles to chainmail)
  • book swaps (host a themed pre-loved book swap)
  • book readings (by the author, or even everyone takes a page)
  • fanfic reading (bad or otherwise)
  • singalongs (filking, themed karaoke)
  • video/slide presentations (your favourite fan, science or history topic)
  • … and any other idea you might have

Keycon 42 Programming Proposal Submissions

We invite you to submit your programming ideas for Keycon 42! Please complete all sections of the proposal form linked below to submit your session. If you wish to submit more than one programming idea, please submit a separate form for each proposal.

This year’s theme is Fandom Can Be Funny. We welcome a broad range of programming topics at Keycon. Panels and events that connect to this year’s theme may be given preference during scheduling.

Audience Suitability

Keycon welcomes programming across all genres and age groups. When submitting your proposal, please indicate whether your content is intended for Mature Audiences (18+).

Note: Mature Audience programming is typically scheduled later in the evening, after 8:00 PM on Friday and Saturday.

What Happens After You Submit

Once your proposal is received:

  • Our Programming Coordinator will contact you to confirm your submission.
  • We may follow up with questions about your session or technical needs.
  • They will be your primary point of contact for programming matters leading up to the convention.

If you have questions at any time, please don’t hesitate to reach out – we’re happy to help! programming42@keycon.org
