Mikey Mason<\/strong><\/a> – creates art and music with geeky themes, using his lifelong love for fantasy, science fiction, cats, and games to inspire his music and help him evolve as person and artist. His performances are sharpened by long years of experience as a stand-up comedian. He\u2019s performed at theatres, bars, comedy clubs, casinos, colleges, festivals, and conventions across the US, hosted podcasts, exhibited at art shows, created a coloring book, and more, continually expanding his horizons as to what his next project will be.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

GMB Chomichuk <\/a><\/strong>– award-winning writer and illustrator whose work has appeared in comics, graphic novels, books, role-playing games, theatre, television and film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Works from GMB Chomichuk include the forthcoming Witch Police Cases from At Bay Press. He is the host of Super Pulp Science, a podcast about how genre gets made. His work in words and pictures ranges from the heartwarming to the bloodcurdling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lar deSouza<\/a><\/strong> – beard advocate, noted hat enthusiast and Internet Uncle, who for the past2 decades the artist for the daily comic \u201cLeast I Could Do<\/a>\u201d & the 2008 Shuster Award winning online comic \u201cLooking For Group<\/a>\u201d whilst continuing to freelance as a games illustrator, cartoonist & and caricture artist (winning many awards including the Prix Aurora Award for Artistic Achievement in Canadian Science Fiction in both 2008 and 2006).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yes, he does look like his caricature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryan Costello<\/strong> – co-designer of Renegade Game Studios’ Essence20 RPG system and veteran of on over a dozen G.I. JOE, Power Rangers, My Little Pony, and Transformers sourcebooks. He spent a decade working on Looking For Group<\/a>, managing the website & designing merchandise, LFG RPG and tabletop games, as well as writing the last year of the comic.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Thurston \u201cThursty\u201d Hillman<\/strong> – a Winnipeg-born TTRPG creator and GM known for his work on the Narrative Declaration YouTube channel, where he runs actual play campaigns enjoyed by fans around the world. He started his career working in gaming retail at several stores in Winnipeg, including Pendragon, Campaign Outfitters, and Comics America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professionally, he serves as Associate Publisher at Paizo and is a co-creator of Starfinder (1st & 2nd Editions). His extensive credits include Pathfinder RPG, Warhammer Wrath & Glory, and numerous other tabletop projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Keycon?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Keycon is a not-for-profit volunteer run convention, fully run by fans just like you! We are Manitoba’s mixed-media fandom convention. This means we invite fandoms of all types as one big community! It is traditionally held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on the Victoria Day long weekend, every year since 1982!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It focuses on science fiction, fantasy and related genres in any form. It includes, but is not limited to, writing, visual arts, television and film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of content, we might compare it to a Comic Con or an Anime Con, however the size and the format is actually quite a bit different.

Keycon is a far more personal experience with unmonetized Guest interaction, themed hospitality suites, and a focus on community and connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a lot of other things at the convention that you are probably familiar with. We have a costume\/cosplay contest, an art show\/auction, a tabletop gaming room, and a marketplace to purchase that extra something for your costume, the out of print book or game you\u2019ve been searching for, or something else that tickles your fancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some other things that are special to Keycon are The Newcomers Dinner, The Keycon Tour, The Social <\/strong>and Hospitality Suites.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

There are a lot of ways to participate in Keycon, from being a regular member, to a panellist, to a cosplayer, a vendor, press, or all of the above! No matter your interest in attending Keycon, we have a place for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To attend Keycon, you have to get to Keycon. In case your Electronic Thumb is not working, we have information on NAVIGO public transit Trip Planner or of course there are Rideshare<\/a>, Taxi<\/a> or Car Rental<\/a> available.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Fortunately public transport in Winnipeg is nothing like being drunk (so no need to ask a glass of water how unpleasant that is).<\/i><\/p>\n\n
